Live data
Live wildfire map for California and Nevada.
Data from the National Interagency Fire Center and the National Weather Service, refreshed every 10 minutes. Not for evacuation decisions.
[ 01 ]Reading the map
What you are looking at.
A live view of wildfire activity across the West, centered on the communities we protect. Check any address to see the nearest active fire and current fire weather.
Active fires
Each dot is a wildfire reported to the National Interagency Fire Center. Bigger dots are bigger fires. Orange means mostly uncontained; grey means mostly contained.
Fire perimeters
Shaded areas show the mapped footprint of larger fires, updated as crews and aircraft map the fire edge.
Fire weather alerts
Dashed zones show National Weather Service Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watches, when wind, heat and dry air make fires spread fast.
Wetline coverage
Light blue zones show where Wetline crews work: Southern California, the Bay Area, the Sierra, Lake Tahoe and Nevada. Dots mark the communities with their own local pages.
[ 02 ]When a fire is close
The map tells you where. Hardening decides what happens.
Most homes lost in wildfires ignite from embers that travel far ahead of the flames, often a mile or more on strong winds. By the time a fire shows up nearby on a map, there is rarely time to harden a house.
That is why we focus on the work you do before fire season: ember-resistant vents, fire-retardant coatings, window protection and off-grid sprinkler systems that run while you are evacuated.
If you are under an evacuation order, leave. Follow your local fire department, county emergency alerts and CAL FIRE or Nevada Division of Forestry updates.

Where does the fire data come from?
Active fire locations and perimeters come from the National Interagency Fire Center's public Wildland Fire Interagency Geospatial Services. Fire weather alerts come from the National Weather Service. Data refreshes every 10 minutes.
Can I use this map to decide when to evacuate?
No. Use official sources for evacuation decisions: your county emergency alerts, local fire department, CAL FIRE in California and the Nevada Division of Forestry in Nevada.
What is a Red Flag Warning?
A National Weather Service alert that warm temperatures, very low humidity and strong winds are expected to combine into conditions where fires can start and spread quickly.
Why do some fires not show a perimeter?
Perimeters are mapped for larger fires. Smaller or newly reported fires appear as a point until crews or aircraft map the edge.
