What to Expect from The Wetline Property Evaluation

If you're looking for a way to make sure your home is prepared for a wildfire, you've come to the right place. We're going to walk you through the process of getting a Wetline Wildfire Defense property evaluation - a review of your home and property to determine how well you can protect your home from wildfire.

The first step is to provide you with an overview of your property via satellite images or other means. This will give us a sense of what we're dealing with and where we need to focus our attention. At this stage, we'll perform a walk-through of your property. This will give us a better sense of the terrain, vegetation and other factors that might impact our ability to protect your home from wildfire.

At this point, our team of former CA Fire Chiefs will assess your home and property's current defensiveness based on a fire service "structure triage" scale. This will help us determine what parts of your home are most vulnerable to fire damage and how we can improve their defensiveness. Once we've completed the assessment, we'll sit down with you to go over our findings and explain how we can help. We'll discuss different options for improving your home's defensiveness and explain how each of them will impact its value as well as your budget.

Next up, we'll suggest methods for gaining more defensible space through various methods up to and including “fuel modifications” on the property. We'll also talk about how to maintain your home's defensiveness, as well as what type of materials and systems are best for the job. Once that's done, we'll evaluate the homes construction materials, exterior parts, roof, etc. We want to know exactly how well-equipped your home is against fire damage!

When appropriate, our fire experts will consult with the local Fire Department to ensure there aren't any access concerns getting onto your property. This includes identifying any ingress and egress issues that could cause problems during and after any potential wildfire. We are also looking to see if there are any obstructions in the way of our equipment (such as trees or bushes), and if there is a risk of falling power lines. This part of the process also includes planning for potential evacuations of pets or large animals on your property.

Finally, we'll help you set realistic expectations for how well your property will withstand a wildfire before any system installation and after a Wetline Wildfire Defense installation. This is important because homeowners often have unrealistic expectations about how well their homes will withstand a wildfire, especially if they've never experienced one before. It's our job to help them understand the risks of wildfires and how to mitigate those risks.
